Frequently Asked Questions
Are Siberian cats and kittens hypoallergenic?
Yes! Overall, as a breed, Siberian cats tend to have lower levels of Fel d1 (the protein in cats' saliva that some people are allergic to).
Please note: hypoallergenic does not mean NONallergenic. No cat is lacking the Fel d1 protein, but some (including Siberians) have naturally lower levels. Within the breed Fel d1 levels will vary from cat to cat, so if you have severe allergies it would be good to spend time with the cat/kitten you are interested in before taking it home; if that isn't possible, you may want to find a breeder who specializes in low allergen cats and performs Fel d1 testing on their kittens.
More info on our Allergy Info page.
Is one color or gender more hypoallergenic than another?
No, that is a myth.
Which gender should I choose?
Honestly, in our experience there isn't a distinct difference between the males and the females. We hear from different people that one gender supposedly has higher or lower allergen levels than the other, or is more cuddly than the other, but we just don't see it.
We encourage our families to choose the kitten they are drawn to, regardless of gender, and so far everyone has been happy with the kitten they chose.
Do Siberian cats shed a lot?
Ours, for the most part, shed a lot for about ten days in the spring and another ten days or so in the fall. The rest of the year we may notice slight shedding when they are stressed about something, and that's pretty much it.
Where are you located?
We are in Princeton, TX 75407
Princeton is about a 45 minute drive from either Dallas airport, just a few minutes east of McKinney, off Hwy 380.
Can I visit?
We do allow allergy visits for a $50 fee. If you place a deposit within 24 hours we will apply the $50 towards the total price of your kitten.
Allergy visits can be scheduled through our Facebook page.
How much do your kittens cost?
Our kittens currently range from $2600 - $3500 (depending which waitlist you choose, whether you add Priority Selection, and how you pay; plus sales tax if you live in TX). We do offer a discount on each payment made with cash (or any other method that does not charge us fees).
Current pricing and upgrade options can always be see in our store.
How much is your deposit?
Our deposit is 1/3 of your total. You can add/remove different options when adding to your shopping bag in our online store, to see how they affect your total and deposit.
Do you have any kittens available?
You can check our Current Litters pages for current availability.
Sometimes, when life gets busy, we fall behind on updating; when that happens, so please don't hesitate to reach out by phone, text, or email to ask!
How long will I have to wait?
That's a hard question to answer because there are so many variables; we've had families wait a couple of weeks and we've had families wait over a year.
Things that affect your wait time:
- when queens go into heat and how many kittens are born
- which waitlist you are on (when kittens are born we pull families first from our Priority waitlist and then from the regular waitlist*
- your place in line (obviously)
- whether you are planning to take one or two kittens home and how many families in your litter decide to take two kittens (we give priority to families taking two kittens because that is easiest on the kittens, so if you are at the end of the line for a litter and a family decides to purchase a second kitten, you will be bumped to the next litter)
- how many families ahead of you decide to wait for a later litter (sometimes due to color/gender preferences, sometimes due to life/circumstances
**NOTE: We don't want anyone to linger on the REGULAR waitlist forever, so once you have been bumped from one litter from each queen (by people who placed deposits after you, but who chose our PRIORITY waitlist) we will move you to the PRIORITY waitlist at no charge.
How do I get on your waitlist?
Just place a deposit through our online store.
When do I get to take my kitten home?
Most of our kittens go home around 12 weeks. We let our queens and kittens guide the timeline: if a queen is seeming annoyed by kittens we let them go a bit early; if she and/or they seem to need more time together it could be a bit longer.
Do you ship/deliver?
We have driven or flown kittens (in the cabin... we don't ship them in cargo, ever!) to their new homes occasionally in the past, but life is pretty full these days and our cars are getting older, so we haven't been doing it recently. Please feel free to ask us in case circumstances change!
